Movie Double Take

Movies Are Good!

December 14 - Christmas Movie Countdown

December 14: Elf

I know that a lot of people like this movie.  My company plays it every year on a giant screen in our office, and I watched it for the first time with two roommates who loved it and could recite all the lines.  But honestly, I do not understand what is fun about watching Will Ferrell gallop around in green tights and pretend to be an elf.  I’m not a fan of Ferrell anyway, which is probably part of the problem, but the idea of the movie just sounds annoying no matter who was cast in the role.  An adult elf who loves Christmas and acts like a kid about it?  Not the stuff of great film, and seemingly made for kids to watch and enjoy.  This ranks up with The Santa Clause for me in terms of holiday movies with bad stories and sub-par acting, and nobody walks around their office quoting Tim Allen.

Place on Allie’s most-traditionally-watched list: 12

Best quote: I don’t think any of the quotes are funny.

Treat we want to try from the movie: Spaghetti with syrup.  Except instead of spaghetti, pancakes.
